Co-op Closes Permanently

It is with heavy hearts we announce the closing of Bear Valley Community Nursery School, Co-op in the Pines.

Co-op in the Pines was founded over 50 years ago as a parent-participation nursery school providing the opportunity for parents to be actively involved in their child’s preschool experience. The program depends upon that active parent involvement to sustain operations. The last four years have seen a dramatic decline in the number of families ready, willing, and able to commit to the responsibilities of administering and operating the school. The 2014-2015 school year did end on a high note with great expectations for the coming year; however, the necessary enrollment has not materialized. Numerous efforts to modify the program and revive enrollment have failed. At this time, the difficult but inevitable decision has been made to close the school permanently.

Many more decisions will need to be made in the course of dissolving Bear Valley Community Nursery School and disposing of assets. We would like to involve the alumni and community in this process as much as possible because “community cooperation” has always been an integral part of Co-op in the Pines. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
